In the laboratory for ventilation and climate technology innovative climate systems and new components like vents, cooling ceilings, heat recovery systems, water-air heat exchangers etc. are studied under the aspects of energys efficiency and thermal comfort. The laboratory includes a lab room and a lab air conditioning system. In the lab room (variable size until 7.20 m x 7.20 m x 5.50 m, temperature-controlled walls) comprehensive measurement equipment is available for the study of the air flows and thermal comfort, in particular for the measurement of air speed and turbulence, noise, air temperature, air humidity and differential pressure. A visualisation of air flows is also possible. The air conditioning system contains all components that are necessary for the thermodynamic treatment of air and can be used for the study of optimum operational strategies as well as for the air preconditioning (for the experimental analysis of climate technical systems).
